About Social Media Association

The Social Media Association (SMA) is a trade association focused on social media and digital communications for business. Our mission is to set the standard for all ethical, legal digital marketing practices. We believe in the power of social media to connect with our audience, build brand awareness, and drive engagement. We are seeking enthusiastic and creative students to join our team as Social Media Interns.


Job Overview

As a Social Media Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in managing and growing our social media presence. You will work closely with our team to create engaging content, develop social media strategies, and analyze performance metrics.


Responsibilities

 

  • Assist in the creation and scheduling of social media posts across various platforms (e.g., Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn).

  • Engage with our audience by responding to comments, messages, and mentions.

  • Monitor social media trends and propose new ideas to enhance our social media strategy.

  • Help in the development of social media campaigns and promotions.

  • Track and report on the performance of social media content and campaigns.

  • Conduct research on industry trends and competitors.

  • Create and manage automated emails for membership check-ins to gauge their level of interest and engagement with the group.

  • Conduct outreach to potential speakers for our events, including initial contact and follow-up communications.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university program, preferably in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.

  • Strong understanding of major social media platforms.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Creative mindset with a keen eye for detail.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Basic knowledge of graphic design tools (e.g., Canva) is a plus.

  • Previous experience in social media management is a plus but not required.
